A Chartered Counselling Psychologist offering psychological therapy for a range of difficulties in Central and South London.
I am Dr Caroline Finill, a chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health Care Professionals Council and The British Psychological Society. I offer psychological therapy for a range of difficulties in Central London W1, South East London.
Counselling Psychology combines knowledge and skills in therapeutic practice within the scientific discipline of Psychology. I have been trained in a number of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches.
I work from an integrative relational approach which means I draw upon theories and models that are tailored to your individual needs and are informed by evidenced based research. I place much emphasis on the relationship between client and therapist. There is a substantial body of research which suggests that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in therapy, and I believe it is essential that you find a therapist that is right for you.

At present I work for part of the week in the NHS working with people with Disorders of Sexual Development. I have experience of working with adults with depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. I have a special interest in working with people who are living with differences of Sexual Development, cancer, Tourette’s Syndrome, fertility issues and neurological difficulties, such as multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. I also have experience of working with people with non-epileptic seizures (dissociative seizures). In addition, I am particularly interested in working with older adults and people with dementia and with partners or family members of those with dementia.
Before I trained as a counselling psychologist I trained and worked as a general nurse (RGN) and a registered mental nurse (RMN). I worked as an RMN at The Maudsley Hospital for 11 years.
My experience of working as a nurse has helped me as a counselling psychologist as it has given me experience of helping people who are experiencing both physical and mental distress and illness.
