Dr caroline Finill

I believe therapy is about having a confidential, warm and supportive space to work through your concerns at your own pace.

A Chartered Counselling Psychologist offering psychological therapy for a range of difficulties in Central and South London.

I am Dr Caroline Finill, a chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health Care Professionals Council and The British Psychological Society. I offer psychological therapy for a range of difficulties in Central London W1, South East London.

Counselling Psychology combines knowledge and skills in therapeutic practice within the scientific discipline of Psychology.  I have been trained in a number of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches.

I work from an integrative relational approach which means I draw upon theories and models that are tailored to your individual needs and are informed by evidenced based research. I place much emphasis on the relationship between client and therapist. There is a substantial body of research which suggests that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in therapy, and I believe it is essential that you find a therapist that is right for you.

My experience

At present I work for part of the week in the NHS working with people with Disorders of Sexual Development. I have experience of working with adults with depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. I have a special interest in working with people who are living with differences of Sexual Development, cancer, Tourette’s Syndrome, fertility issues and neurological difficulties, such as multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. I also have experience of working with people with non-epileptic seizures (dissociative seizures). In addition, I am particularly interested in working with older adults and people with dementia and with partners or family members of those with dementia.

Before I trained as a counselling psychologist I trained and worked as a general nurse (RGN) and a registered mental nurse (RMN). I worked as an RMN at The Maudsley Hospital for 11 years.

My experience of working as a nurse has helped me as a counselling psychologist as it has given me experience of helping people who are experiencing both physical and mental distress and illness.

What some of my clients have said...

My family members and I are impressed at the drastic rate of my recovery. I strongly believe that my life has been turned around and I am very hopeful and looking forward to a future which is not hindered by my ever reducing involuntary movements

I would once again like to thank you for your support and kindness during our sessions, it has really helped me move forward with everything

I immediately felt very comfortable with Caroline. She is empathetic, a great listener, very professional and has presented me with great tools and reminders on how I can get back on track when I begin to spiral downwards. She helped me understand how my thoughts work and how I can make changes so that I try not to listen to very self critical thoughts about myself when I am feeling low. I finished therapy feeling in such a better place than at the beginning. She helped me come to terms with a number of bereavements in my life, it was great to talk about how this made me feel. I also know I can call on her again if I feel the need. It has been a very positive experience in my life!
